When our client in Bondurant, IA, reached out to us, they wanted to give their front yard a makeover. They initially had a large lawn, concrete steps leading to their house, and a small landscape surrounding it. However, they wanted to level out the slope and upgrade the landscape's look. So, we got to work making that happen! We started this project by prepping the area where the installations would take place so that everything would go smoothly. Then, we built a retaining wall where the front yard sloped and matching entryway steps. After that, we added new landscaping with shrubs and small trees to elevate their curb appeal. Finally, we finished this project by installing outdoor lighting around their property to illuminate the steps and create visual interest even at night!

This project started with prepping the front yard for the new installations.

Preparation was the first step of this front yard makeover project. Our client initially had a large lawn, landscaping, and concrete steps leading up to their house. So, we removed the existing vegetation and steps to make way for the new installations. Once everything was cleared out, we prepped the ground and added the base for the pathway and steps. That way, we were ready to add all the new elements!

The next step of this project involved building a retaining wall parallel to our client's house and the entrance to the property from the sidewalk. We expertly placed the wall where their front yard sloped to create level surfaces at the base and top, which we built out of durable concrete blocks. We also installed a pathway and entryway steps leading up to the front of the house using matching materials to ensure a seamless look with the retaining wall.

The following step of this project was to add landscaping with shrubs and small trees.

Once the retaining wall and entryway steps were complete, it was time to focus on adding greenery to our client's front yard. For this part of the project, we added new landscaping around our client's house with charming shrubs and small trees to achieve a more cohesive, purposeful design. Additionally, a bed lining the top of the retaining wall was installed, which we filled with small plants to elevate its appearance. The landscape bed along the wall, paired with the one around the home, creates a tiered effect, contributing to a new and improved curb appeal!

The finishing touch for this project was to install outdoor lighting.

We placed fixtures along the steps, retaining wall, and front of their house to make it safer to navigate at night.
