Our team completed a landscape bed installation project for a client in Polk City, IA. They reached out to us because they wanted to upgrade their property's curb appeal, so we started by meeting with them to discuss their goals and vision for the new landscape. That way, we could plan and design a layout that aligned with their expectations. Once we had a good idea of what they wanted, we got to work bringing it to life! We carved out the shape of the landscape bed before installing durable edging to separate it from the lawn. After that, we filled it with plants, boulders, and landscape lighting. Finally, a rock ground cover gives it a nice, finished look.

A Consultation Was the First Step of This Landscape Bed Project

Installing a new landscape bed is a great way to enhance curb appeal, but we wanted to ensure it aligned with our client's expectations. So, the first step of this project was a consultation. During this initial meeting, we sat down with them to get a better understanding of what they were looking for. We discussed their goals and preferences for the overall look, along with the type of plants and other elements it should include. After listening closely to their ideas, we created a detailed plan with everything they wanted. Then, once they approved the design, we moved forward with the next steps!

The Shape of the Landscape Bed Was Carved Out Before We Added Edging

Edging along a landscape bed in Ankeny, IA.

As the project got underway, we first had to prepare the site for where the landscape bed would go. This involved carving out its shape to fit along the driveway and across the front of the house to the side. Once that was complete, we added decorative concrete edging to define the landscape bed's shape while separating it from the lawn. That way, it stands out and keeps everything in place.

Plants, Boulders & Lighting Were Added to Our Client's Landscape Bed

Once the landscape bed was ready, we got to work on all the elements our client wanted it to have. We expertly placed charming, green plants throughout the bed to bring natural colors, as well as boulders of varying sizes to add more visual interest. Additionally, landscape lighting fixtures were installed to highlight the beauty of the softscape elements while improving visibility in their front yard at night.

The Final Step of This Project Was to Install a Rock Ground Cover

The last step of this landscape bed project was to add the finishing touches, namely the rock ground cover. Our crew precisely spread an even layer of rocks across our client's landscape bed, making the plants stand out even more while complementing the boulders perfectly. This ground cover creates an appealing display of natural brown, tan, and gray colors to give it a more polished appearance. Our client now has a cohesive, purposeful landscape display that drastically improves the home's curb appeal!

We offer different types of rocks to serve as a ground cover for landscape beds, such as river rock, trap rock, and buckskin rock.
