When our client in Adel, IA, contacted us, they wanted to create the ultimate outdoor living space. They have a large backyard, so their goal was to maximize that area with a new pool while ensuring a cohesive look with the existing elements! Our team helped bring their vision to fruition, with the installation of the pool that has an automatic pool cover and paver pool deck being the first step of this project. Additionally, we incorporated new landscape beds around the pool deck to further enhance the space with softscape elements. The last step of this extensive project involved installing outdoor lighting in the surrounding landscape beds to improve visibility and aesthetic appeal at night. With everything finished, they now have an extended living space perfect for hosting and entertaining outside.
The First Step of This Outdoor Living Project Was to Install the Pool & Paver Pool Deck
This outdoor living project involved multiple elements, but the first step was to install the main feature that everything else would complement: the pool! We expertly designed the rectangular pool to be the focal point of our client's backyard before installing it with precision and attention to detail. This pool has a sun shelf where they can sit in shallow water, which is complete with an automatic pool cover so they can easily cover it when it's not being used to keep it debris-free while reducing evaporation.
Once the pool was complete, we got to work building the surrounding paver pool deck. They already have a concrete patio underneath their house's overhang, plus backyard garage doors and steps around the side. So, we wanted to ensure these spaces all blended together for a luxury outdoor feel. To do this, we used large, gray paving stones for the pool deck. Long, rectangular concrete slabs were also installed to connect the existing elements and accent the pool deck.
We Incorporated New Landscape Beds Around the Pool Deck
Once the pool was installed, we moved on to incorporating new landscape beds around the pool deck. These beds encompass the back of the pool deck, wrapping around one side to further define the space and bring a cohesive design of softscape elements. We filled them with gray trap rocks as the ground cover, which complemented the light gray of the paver pool deck. Different types of plants were also installed to add pops of greenery throughout the beds, along with edging to separate them from the lawn.
Outdoor Lighting in the Landscape Beds Completed This Project
The final step of this project was to install outdoor lighting in the landscape beds surrounding the pool area. Fixtures were placed along the edges, allowing our client to continue to use the space even at night while ensuring its beauty can still be seen. We also use LED lighting because it's long-lasting and energy-efficient, meaning they can get the most out of it. Today, they boast an equally functional and aesthetically appealing outdoor living space that looks like it was built with the house.
