We had a client in Johnston, IA, reach out to our team because they wanted to revitalize their landscape. They initially had severely overgrown vegetation lining their house, making it appear unkempt. The goal was to create a more purposeful landscape design that restored their curb appeal, which is exactly what we set out to achieve. After that, our crew got to work creating raised planter beds in front of their house and along the sides, with one extending into the backyard. Our client wanted to start their entire landscape from scratch, so the first step of this project was site preparation. This was an extensive process, as it involved removing all overgrown vegetation from the areas where we planned to install new landscape beds, including the front of the house and along the sides. Once that was clear, our team prepped the ground accordingly to ensure a smooth foundation for the additions.

After that, we got to work creating the raised planter beds.

Creating the raised planter beds was the next step of this project. We installed durable concrete blocks to create tiered beds in front of our client's house lining the front walkway and along the side. These blocks were expertly placed to accommodate the slight slope in their front yard while bringing visual interest. We also structured the front raised planter bed to go around the opposite side of the house, extending it into the backyard along the fence. This creates a seamless look with flowing curves to fit the property's layout perfectly.

Finally, we filled the landscape beds with plants and brown mulch.

Once the new landscape beds were installed, we moved on to the finishing touches: adding plants and mulch! We filled the beds with various types of small, charming plants to create a strategic display of greenery. Additionally, brown mulch was spread evenly by hand across them to refine their appearance while making the plants stand out even more. With these well-designed raised planter beds, our client now has a tamed landscape with a cohesive look for a rejuvenated curb appeal!
